Dear President Obama:

I would like you to propose some meaningful gun control legislation, to include limiting the size of clips and quantities of ammunition, as some of the common sense steps in making America safer after the shootings in Aurora, CO, July 20, 2012.

Also, if you could take initiatives to make our mental health services more pro-active to identify and treat at risk persons, I think that would help make America safer.

Additionally, I want to urge you to support the creation of a federal level Department of Peace and Non-Violence. I believe our cultural belief in the myth of redemptive violence is what fuels the unending violence on our streets, in public places, and in our homes. To counter this, I believe, there needs to be a high level priority in all our institutions of self-government to advance the values of non-violence and peacemaking and I hope you agree.

Inspired by our friends at Occupy Wall Street, Move To Amend is planning bold action to mark the second anniversary of the infamous Citizens United v. FEC decision!

Occupy the Courts will be a one day occupation of Federal courthouses across the country, including the U.S. Supreme Courtin Washington, D.C., on Friday January 20, 2012.

Move to Amend volunteers across the USA will lead the charge on the judiciary which created — and continues to expand — corporate personhood rights.

Americans across the country are on the march, and they are marching OUR way. They carry signs that say, “Corporations are NOT people! Money is NOT Speech!”
And they are chanting those truths at the top of their lungs!
The time has come to make these truths evident to the courts.
